We at the Department of Finno-Ugric Studies at the University of Vienna are pleased to announce the launch of the website www.mari-language.com. This web portal aims to provide both foreign students of the language and native speakers free access to much-needed linguistic materials.
More information on our undertakings and our schedule can be found on our website – in English, Mari, and Russian. Materials will become available as they are completed. As of now, the first 300 pages of the English-language textbook “Оҥай марий йылме: A Comprehensive Introduction to the Mari Language”, and accompanying audio materials, can be freely downloaded (see http://www.mari-language.com/book/book_en.html)
We hope to, with this website, make a notable contribution to making the Mari language accessible to enthusiasts the world over.
