Representatives of Karelia participated in the session of the Advisory Committee of Finno-Ugric peoples

On September 12 regular session of the Advisory Committee of Finno-Ugric peoples was held in Moscow to discuss the Plan of activities of the Committee for 2010 and preparation for the international workshop conference Functioning of Finno-Ugric Languages in the Contemporary Context to be held in November in Syktyvkar.

Karelia at the session was presented by the Deputy Minister of the Republic of Karelia on National Politics and Relations with Religious Associations Elena Bogdanova, Chairlady of The Vepsian Culture Society Karelian regional public organization Zynaida Strogalshchikova and Chairman of the Board of Youth Association of Finno-Ugric Peoples Alexey Tsykarev.

One of the main events the Committee has scheduled for 2010 is carrying out of the intermediate conference in Saransk between the world congresses where intermediate results of implementation of decisions made at the Vth World Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples in Khanty-Mansiysk in the summer of 2008 will be summed up. Implementation of the project on training representatives of the nongovernmental Finno-Ugric organizations of the Russian Federation will proceed.
